PREVIEW OF THE DAFCAST WEBSITE FOR CYCLE 13

Please do not forward this link around yet! This is still in development and will be "released", God willing, on August 1, in time for the thirteenth cycle of Daf Yomi.

This is an early draft. I haven't proofread; there are plenty of typos and probably some more significant errors as well.
Most pages on this site are currently auto-translated. The autotranslations are intended as a starting point for my manual translations. At best, they are awkward stringing-togethers of words and phrases in the corpus database that can benefit from cleaning up. At worst, they are picking the wrong homograph. Auto-translations are indicated by italics.
I am not a rabbi or an expert. These are my translations, and in some cases I am certainly misunderstanding things.
The Talmud is a document of its time. While the Talmud is a foundational document of Judaism, it must be read in its historical context. There are passages that are xenophobic, sexist, and irreconcilable with modern science. Not everything in these pages represents contemporary Judaism.

Copyright

This translation is protected by copyright. I'm putting a lot of effort into this project. Please respect that by only copying with my permission.
I intend to provide free licenses for most uses. I plan to use a Creative Commons CC-NC-BY-SA license, which will allow you to re-use my translations as long as you don't charge money for them (NC), as long as you give me credit (BY), and as long as you make your derived work available under the same terms (SA). But I'm not ready to do that yet because this is still a very rough work-in-progress.
In the meantime, if you want to re-use this, please contact me. I am willing to discuss re-use on an ad hoc basis. Perhaps the one page you want to use is actually ready for re-use. Ask. I'll probably work out a way to say "yes."

I need to clean up this section. But for now, I'll note that I've made use of the Hebrew/Aramaic text of the Bavli at Mechon Mamre; Jastrow's dictionary; "The Practical Talmud Dictionary" by Yitzchak Frank. I've also used the big three translations of the Talmud --- Soncino (English), Artscroll (English), and Steinsaltz (Hebrew) --- and the Kehati (English) edition of the Mishna, to help me understand passages before translating them.

דף טז,א גמרא

In accordance with whom is the position of our mishna? R' Meir She For if it was Rabbi Yehudah No. two for him sacrifice and not two for him ??? I would say at the end of the teaching, ??? No. he eats to you is permitted. For it was taught in a mishna: ??? No. he eats to you Rabbi Meir ??? and Thus said Rabbi Abba was it made? ??? For this reason No. he eats to you There is no difficulty. this one for he said: ??? this one for he said: No. ??? that is not you shall sacrifice he comes to say i.e., what he really means is:

דף טז,א משנה

??? No. he eats to you this one ??? to you No. ??? No. he eats to you forbidden

דף טז,א גמרא

from this general principle it would follow for it is the case that ??? to you that is not ??? They challenged this from a baraita: oaths there are two that are actually four ??? or in the case that one is not he eats ??? or in the case that one is not ??? that did not have he eats ??? or in the case that one is not ??? from this general principle it would follow ??? to you ??? Abayye said: ??? two tongues ??? they were ??? in it to eat and he said ??? And, too, ??? but: he said No. ??? No. ??? And, too, he said ??? that is not ??? he comes to say i.e., what he really means is: Rav Ashi said: ??? he eats he comes to say i.e., what he really means is: If so, This is obvious! what is there to say? What would you have said? ??? She ??? for him Come and learn from this. Abaye did not say ??? that is not The tanna teaches: ??? he eats and Rav Ashi ??? from ??? his reasoning is that did not have he eats also ??? two tongues they were ??? in it to eat and he said No. ??? No. ??? and he said also ??? between ??? between that did not have he eats justice. ??? for he said: and there are ??? also ??? that did not have he eats ??? that is not ??? he comes to say i.e., what he really means is: except a Tanna taught: a division from ??? or in the case that one is not he eats No. he eats ???

דף טז,א משנה

this ??? How so? he said ??? a sukkah that I makes A lulav that I take tefillin that I ??? is forbidden ??? is permitted. that do not ??? to cross over on the commandments.

דף טז,ב גמרא

??? from this general principle it would follow ??? he Hey, isn't it the case that is permitted. The tanna teaches: ??? The tanna teaches: ??? sleeping ??? walking is forbidden this ??? How so? ??? Rav Kahana he would say over Rav Gidel said that Rav said Rav ??? he would say over Rav said ??? Shmuel said from where do we learn that do not ??? to cross over on the commandments. Scripture states: (Num. 30) No. ??? His word His word No. ??? but: ??? he ??? heaven what is the difference here, ??? As it is written (Num. 30) a man For reside ??? to Hashem No. ??? His word ??? also this one it is written (Num. 30) or ??? to Hashem No. ??? His word Abayye said: this one for he said: ??? a sukkah by the this one for he said: ??? that did not have ??? from the sukkah Rabba said: And so the commandments ??? except Rabba said: this one for he said: ??? a sukkah by the Hey, isn't it the case that for he said: ??? that did not have ??? in a sukkah and those that do not ??? to cross over on the commandments. from here ??? for him from there ??? for him as it is taught: It is possible "to nullify has sworn the Commandment and not he nullifies It is possible ??? he is liable
