PREVIEW OF THE DAFCAST WEBSITE FOR CYCLE 13

Please do not forward this link around yet! This is still in development and will be "released", God willing, on August 1, in time for the thirteenth cycle of Daf Yomi.

This is an early draft. I haven't proofread; there are plenty of typos and probably some more significant errors as well.
Most pages on this site are currently auto-translated. The autotranslations are intended as a starting point for my manual translations. At best, they are awkward stringing-togethers of words and phrases in the corpus database that can benefit from cleaning up. At worst, they are picking the wrong homograph. Auto-translations are indicated by italics.
I am not a rabbi or an expert. These are my translations, and in some cases I am certainly misunderstanding things.
The Talmud is a document of its time. While the Talmud is a foundational document of Judaism, it must be read in its historical context. There are passages that are xenophobic, sexist, and irreconcilable with modern science. Not everything in these pages represents contemporary Judaism.

Copyright

This translation is protected by copyright. I'm putting a lot of effort into this project. Please respect that by only copying with my permission.
I intend to provide free licenses for most uses. I plan to use a Creative Commons CC-NC-BY-SA license, which will allow you to re-use my translations as long as you don't charge money for them (NC), as long as you give me credit (BY), and as long as you make your derived work available under the same terms (SA). But I'm not ready to do that yet because this is still a very rough work-in-progress.
In the meantime, if you want to re-use this, please contact me. I am willing to discuss re-use on an ad hoc basis. Perhaps the one page you want to use is actually ready for re-use. Ask. I'll probably work out a way to say "yes."

I need to clean up this section. But for now, I'll note that I've made use of the Hebrew/Aramaic text of the Bavli at Mechon Mamre; Jastrow's dictionary; "The Practical Talmud Dictionary" by Yitzchak Frank. I've also used the big three translations of the Talmud --- Soncino (English), Artscroll (English), and Steinsaltz (Hebrew) --- and the Kehati (English) edition of the Mishna, to help me understand passages before translating them.

What is the reason? Rav said ??? a person ??? are his ??? of his fellow and Rav Nachman bar Yitzchak he said there is a fear of them. lest ??? terumah ??? on a place after They challenged him from this teaching: ??? fruits next to his fellow Behold! this he shall not touch them For this reason the master of the house makes those particular terumah ??? on a place after This is satisfactory for Rav, ??? we were where he teaches For this reason except to Rav Nachman bar Yizchak What then does it mean when it says For this reason thus he comes to say i.e., what he really means is: now ??? rabbis No. ??? For this reason the master of the house makes those particular terumah ??? on a place after Rabbah bar bar Channah said that R' Yochanan said It is a disagreement ??? but: -- more ??? the words of all are ??? son of Isaac certainly disagrees ??? Who would say disagrees and thus he comes to say Rav Kahana ??? he comes to say i.e., what he really means is: Hey, isn't it the case that ??? are his ??? of his fellow he comes to say i.e., what he really means is: ??? in reality They challenged him from this teaching: For this reason a householder ba'al habayit' makes those particular terumah ??? on a place after ??? Perhaps are they, them -- more ??? -- more ??? No. ??? and if ??? What then does it mean when it says ??? them ??? lest ??? the master of the house terumah ??? on a place after For ??? also to the priests for the value terumah ??? them and to Rav Nachman bar Yizchak also ??? to the priests for the value terumah In this case, ??? of Rabbah son of son of ??? reasoned -- more ??? And so are they, them ??? he where they did them And if you say ??? Oftentimes ??? them And so does he act? them the master of the house terumah ??? on a place after No. know ??? They challenged him from this teaching: ??? fruits next to his fellow ??? wine ??? oil ??? honey ??? Behold! this he shall not touch them These are the words of Rabbi Meir. But the sages say: makes to them the possibility of repair if done improperly ??? in the house of judgement ??? to others and does not ??? for himself one like it; ??? justice at a time i.e., in a case that do not to them ??? to others And there is no meaning to the word ??? for themselves ??? at a time i.e., in a case that do not to them ??? we sell to others and we do not sell for themselves The tanna teaches: Regardless, fruits ??? דף לח,ב גמרא

Of what use are they? oil Look, ??? honey ??? but the sages say makes to them the possibility of repair if done improperly ??? What then does it mean when it says ??? does he act? them Rav Ashi said ??? in what way ??? reasoned ??? is greater than ??? No. ??? and one master reasons that even ??? also ??? Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel says ??? in the house of judgement because it was ??? a lost item ??? was it said; Rabbi Abba ??? Ya'akov that R' Yochanan said The halacha is ??? And Rabba said Rav ??? The halacha is in accordance with the words of the sages Hey, isn't it the case that he said R' Yochanan one ??? for he said: Rabbah son of son of ??? that R' Yochanan said in all places ??? Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel ??? The halacha is are like him except est ??? and proof the last one ??? and who follow the reasoning ??? of R' Yochanan ??? Shimon son of ??? According to Rabbinic law, ??? And from where do you derive Perhaps Up to this point, he does not come to say i.e., what he really means is not: Rabban Shimon ben Gamliel Here in this case, except It is because of this: that he came ??? but: there i.e., in another mishna Here, too, ??? and Up to this point, No. ??? rabbis Here in this case, except If it was ??? If it was ??? son of Isaac but: there i.e., in another mishna Here, too, ??? This comes to imply ??? they would taste ??? For didn't Rav Yehudah say Shmuel said The halacha is ??? Shimon ??? and Shmuel said ??? Is this not It is because of this: ??? The reason is he No. two they would taste ??? Here, too, ??? for he said: Rava said: Rav ??? The halacha is in accordance with the words of the sages And Rav Nachman says ??? except Learn from this two they would taste ??? Learn from this was it said; ??? Rav said: yes. ??? Watch out for leading vav And Shmuel said ??? in it ??? does not disagree ??? Because specifically, where they disagree is this: ??? "Hear ye in it ??? Rav said: yes. ??? Perhaps ??? them And Shmuel said ??? immediately As Mar said: ??? them ??? No. ??? them They challenged him from this teaching: Rabbi Eliezer says ??? as it is said (Ex. 22) ??? you I know ??? and their children. ??? except Just as Scripture states: they were ??? etc. This teaches ??? And there is no meaning to the word they would place them ??? to descend ??? And there is no meaning to the word they would place them Rabba said: to descend and to sell We have learnt in a Mishna: it was. ??? in Nehardaya ??? Rav Sheishet ??? He said to him Rav ??? Perhaps to descend and to sell We have learnt in a Mishna: He said to him Perhaps ??? ??? Hey, isn't it the case that is equivalent ??? The tanna teaches: Just as there i.e., in another mishna A general principle: No. So, too, here in this case, also, A general principle: No. ??? She as it is taught: ??? We do not bring out that specific ??? and not only this, but Even if "Hear!" ??? and have come ??? ??? he ate Behold! this ??? and they are ??? Behold! that he was his father or ??? or one from ??? to them ??? the sea and "Hear ye of them ??? that specific ??? and they are ???
