PREVIEW OF THE DAFCAST WEBSITE FOR CYCLE 13

Please do not forward this link around yet! This is still in development and will be "released", God willing, on August 1, in time for the thirteenth cycle of Daf Yomi.

This is an early draft. I haven't proofread; there are plenty of typos and probably some more significant errors as well.
Most pages on this site are currently auto-translated. The autotranslations are intended as a starting point for my manual translations. At best, they are awkward stringing-togethers of words and phrases in the corpus database that can benefit from cleaning up. At worst, they are picking the wrong homograph. Auto-translations are indicated by italics.
I am not a rabbi or an expert. These are my translations, and in some cases I am certainly misunderstanding things.
The Talmud is a document of its time. While the Talmud is a foundational document of Judaism, it must be read in its historical context. There are passages that are xenophobic, sexist, and irreconcilable with modern science. Not everything in these pages represents contemporary Judaism.

Copyright

This translation is protected by copyright. I'm putting a lot of effort into this project. Please respect that by only copying with my permission.
I intend to provide free licenses for most uses. I plan to use a Creative Commons CC-NC-BY-SA license, which will allow you to re-use my translations as long as you don't charge money for them (NC), as long as you give me credit (BY), and as long as you make your derived work available under the same terms (SA). But I'm not ready to do that yet because this is still a very rough work-in-progress.
In the meantime, if you want to re-use this, please contact me. I am willing to discuss re-use on an ad hoc basis. Perhaps the one page you want to use is actually ready for re-use. Ask. I'll probably work out a way to say "yes."

I need to clean up this section. But for now, I'll note that I've made use of the Hebrew/Aramaic text of the Bavli at Mechon Mamre; Jastrow's dictionary; "The Practical Talmud Dictionary" by Yitzchak Frank. I've also used the big three translations of the Talmud --- Soncino (English), Artscroll (English), and Steinsaltz (Hebrew) --- and the Kehati (English) edition of the Mishna, to help me understand passages before translating them.

דף כג,א גמרא

What then does it mean when it says this sorting to him one and this sorting to him one ??? thus he comes to say i.e., what he really means is: ??? sorting to him a court בית דין one and this sorting to him a court בית דין one ??? to them any more one and even ??? is essential. For didn't R' Elazar say They did not teach such a ruling except ??? but: ??? that specific ??? in his city Like that which was said by Rabbi Yochanan ??? Here in this case, also, ??? but: ??? No. Rav Papa said, even you say ??? For example, among judgement For Rav Huna and of Rav Chisda for he says for him does anyone lit., who comes to ??? to you We have learnt in a Mishna: but the sages say two ??? to them any more one And if it enters your mind to argue that ??? a court בית דין a court according to ??? them ??? them among judgement ??? And furthermore, What then does it mean when it says this sorting to him one and this sorting to him one except This is what he means: ??? sorting to him ??? one and this sorting to him ??? one ??? to them any more one what is the difference here, ??? thus In the west, they said in the name For R' Zeira from the midst of for this sorting to him ??? one and this sorting to him ??? one ??? to them any more one he has fulfilled his obligation justice. ??? But the sages say: ??? Let him say ??? Yehudah Rav said what they disagree about for he said: Rav Yehudah Rav said yes. the witnesses ??? on ??? except If so, ??? who ??? with them Rabbi Meir he does not have of Rav Yehudah Rav said And the rabbbis there is for them of Rav Yehudah Rav said No. everyone agrees lit: according to the whole world there is for them of Rav Yehudah Rav said and the understanding of ??? does not disagree ??? Because specifically, where they disagree is this: the understanding of ??? reasoned the understanding of ??? also in the case of And the rabbbis reason that the understanding of ??? in the case of the understanding of ??? Come and hear: They said to him: According to Rabbi Meir, No. all from him ??? to the public I would say No. all from him ??? many upon them Another teaching is like this: In reality lit: In the world invalidates it and brought until that he will accept upon it a court בית דין ??? to the public These are the words of Rabbi Meir. דף כג,ב גמרא

And Rav says ??? the son of of Rav ??? the son of of Rav Yosef For example, Its blood was collected upon it it is dealing with a case where there is only one. Watch out for leading vav And it was necessary to have both statements For if it was a Tanna taught: Abba and your father In this case, ??? rabbis that is not ??? he returns of him. It is because of this: ??? and your father they saw ??? but: one ??? two ??? No. Look, I would say ??? for him According to Rabbi Meir, and if we had heard In this case, In this case, he comes to say i.e., what he really means is: ??? but: ??? I would say ??? the sages, Watch out for leading vav And it was necessary to have both statements this one When the baraita teaches But the beginning of the teaching, ??? and at the end of the teaching, ??? Perhaps, ??? The tanna teaches: R' Eliezer said ??? he and after ??? all ??? he Rav Acha said the son of of Rav ??? For example, that upon it read ??? produce that may or may not have been properly tithed Shall I say ??? all ??? he except ??? R' Meir reasoned Behold! ??? ipso facto ???
