PREVIEW OF THE DAFCAST WEBSITE FOR CYCLE 13

Please do not forward this link around yet! This is still in development and will be "released", God willing, on August 1, in time for the thirteenth cycle of Daf Yomi.

This is an early draft. I haven't proofread; there are plenty of typos and probably some more significant errors as well.
Most pages on this site are currently auto-translated. The autotranslations are intended as a starting point for my manual translations. At best, they are awkward stringing-togethers of words and phrases in the corpus database that can benefit from cleaning up. At worst, they are picking the wrong homograph. Auto-translations are indicated by italics.
I am not a rabbi or an expert. These are my translations, and in some cases I am certainly misunderstanding things.
The Talmud is a document of its time. While the Talmud is a foundational document of Judaism, it must be read in its historical context. There are passages that are xenophobic, sexist, and irreconcilable with modern science. Not everything in these pages represents contemporary Judaism.

Copyright

This translation is protected by copyright. I'm putting a lot of effort into this project. Please respect that by only copying with my permission.
I intend to provide free licenses for most uses. I plan to use a Creative Commons CC-NC-BY-SA license, which will allow you to re-use my translations as long as you don't charge money for them (NC), as long as you give me credit (BY), and as long as you make your derived work available under the same terms (SA). But I'm not ready to do that yet because this is still a very rough work-in-progress.
In the meantime, if you want to re-use this, please contact me. I am willing to discuss re-use on an ad hoc basis. Perhaps the one page you want to use is actually ready for re-use. Ask. I'll probably work out a way to say "yes."

I need to clean up this section. But for now, I'll note that I've made use of the Hebrew/Aramaic text of the Bavli at Mechon Mamre; Jastrow's dictionary; "The Practical Talmud Dictionary" by Yitzchak Frank. I've also used the big three translations of the Talmud --- Soncino (English), Artscroll (English), and Steinsaltz (Hebrew) --- and the Kehati (English) edition of the Mishna, to help me understand passages before translating them.

דף כה,א גמרא

when does the previous statement apply? And regarding what he does not except ??? these are the words of the sages Watch out for leading vav And Rabbi Yochanan said: when does the previous statement apply? ??? And regarding what ??? And everyone agrees lit: according to the whole world when does the previous statement apply? ??? he a person ??? one master reasons that ??? and one master reasons that does not disagree and does not disagree For it was taught: between in which there is to him ??? that did not have he between that do not to him ??? except he Behold! this is invalid, this particular Rabbi Yehudah It is because of this: Rabbi ??? She as it is taught: Rabbi Yehudah says It is because of this: Rabbi ??? In reality lit: In the world yes. one from them a Nazir on account of that did not have it was given euphemisms for nazarite vows except ??? Rabba said: ??? with usurious interest is invalid, ??? We have learnt in a Mishna: ??? with usurious interest ??? with usurious interest son of ??? of him. two ??? One says in the presence of ??? and one says To me ??? Raba for there to be wheat ??? Hey, isn't it the case that Raba he for he said: ??? with usurious interest is invalid, ??? and it was for him a wicked person and the Torah he said to ??? a wicked person until Raba with his reasoning for he said: Raba a person ??? next to himself And there is no meaning to the word a person ??? himself a wicked person This certain individual ??? his hand ??? Rav ??? He went Rabbi ??? reasoned Rav ??? Raba said to him perhaps, ??? Rather, what can we conclude? ??? Watch out for leading vav And it is like Rav Idi bar Avin for he said: Rav Idi bar Avin ??? on ??? he (the possibility of repair if done improperly) does not have until that he goes to the place that do not ??? that specific he returns a lost item In the matter ??? or ??? In the matter ??? What then does it mean when it says ??? Here in this case, ??? If it was ??? Rabbi Chama son of ??? he said ??? The one who said If it was ??? What is the reason מאי טעמא did not say ??? He could say to you ??? because of ??? peace in reality and the one who said ??? What then does it mean when it says tamei did not say If it was ??? He could say to you we were ??? And the other one a Tanna taught: ??? in knowledge" himself and it was taught ??? in knowledge" ??? And it was necessary to have both statements For if it was a Tanna taught: ??? in knowledge" himself there i.e., in another mishna he that is not ??? for he said:

דף כה,ב גמרא

??? for me ??? but: ??? in knowledge" ??? I would say No. and if a Tanna taught: ??? in knowledge" ??? for he said: ??? hangs the validity and I ??? but: ??? in knowledge" himself I would say it is not necessary to teach this They challenged him from this teaching: ??? These are ??? and not ??? only. And they said except even ??? nuts ??? when does the previous statement apply? ??? ??? of them ??? that even ??? No. my slave ??? one ??? and one who borrowed when does the previous statement apply? ??? ??? of them ??? even to a gentile No. ??? these ??? ??? and not ??? only. And they said except even livestock raw lit., living and "uf" when does the previous statement apply? ??? ??? of them ??? for even in the case where in the wilderness also No. my slave ??? these ??? when does the previous statement apply? ??? and Thus said Rabbi ??? No. ??? items only. And they said except ??? money or property How so? says I so-and-so son of so-and-so ??? two hundred zuz ??? Consider this case: there are. ??? as a gift ??? The tanna teaches: Regardless, livestock This is satisfactory for one for he said: If it was ??? we were ??? to it livestock except ??? livestock the daughter of thus She yes. ??? the wheat like who for he said: ox the wheat ??? livestock he For it was taught in a baraita ox the wheat ??? livestock he Rabbi Yosei says: ??? raw lit., living a Tanna taught: ??? about them ??? a thief a law established by the Torah he No. ??? except ??? A deaf person a mute and a child from the beginning ??? Items that were found A deaf person a mute and a child No. found. So, too, because of ??? peace in reality immediately ??? the end of ??? he that he came ??? rabbis ??? from the beginning ??? he is equivalent. ??? he will give ??? in reality he immediately ??? that he came ??? in them? rabbis a Tanna taught: any more ??? about them ??? from the beginning ??? in reality he immediately ??? that he came ??? in them? ??? from the beginning ??? What then does it mean when it says ??? them ??? immediately ??? that he came ??? Rabba said: ??? where they said one ??? livestock that are small and one ??? livestock that is large And who said it? Raba thus For didn't Raba say ??? livestock that are small ??? "in outside the land" i.e., outside the land of Israel are proper ??? livestock that is large even ??? are proper This certain individual ??? it was said: So, here, ??? When the baraita teaches are believed by the three ??? mornings Is this not ??? No. ??? also where he teaches three ??? mornings and if ??? three why do I have and Rather, what can we conclude? ??? why does he the Tanna seize on the particular case of three ??? mornings all among three that is not ??? judgement also thus he comes to say i.e., what he really means is: even Behold! that is not ??? R' Yehudah said: ??? is invalid, ??? is valid Avuah For R' Zeira a slave ??? thirteen ??? When it was that will come ??? When it was that Look, rabbis He said to him (Is. 26) to you with me" came ???
