PREVIEW OF THE DAFCAST WEBSITE FOR CYCLE 13

Please do not forward this link around yet! This is still in development and will be "released", God willing, on August 1, in time for the thirteenth cycle of Daf Yomi.

Disclaimers

This is an early draft. I haven't proofread; there are plenty of typos and probably some more significant errors as well.
Most pages on this site are currently auto-translated. The autotranslations are intended as a starting point for my manual translations. At best, they are awkward stringing-togethers of words and phrases in the corpus database that can benefit from cleaning up. At worst, they are picking the wrong homograph. Auto-translations are indicated by italics.
I am not a rabbi or an expert. These are my translations, and in some cases I am certainly misunderstanding things.
The Talmud is a document of its time. While the Talmud is a foundational document of Judaism, it must be read in its historical context. There are passages that are xenophobic, sexist, and irreconcilable with modern science. Not everything in these pages represents contemporary Judaism.

Copyright

This translation is protected by copyright. I'm putting a lot of effort into this project. Please respect that by only copying with my permission.
I intend to provide free licenses for most uses. I plan to use a Creative Commons CC-NC-BY-SA license, which will allow you to re-use my translations as long as you don't charge money for them (NC), as long as you give me credit (BY), and as long as you make your derived work available under the same terms (SA). But I'm not ready to do that yet because this is still a very rough work-in-progress.
In the meantime, if you want to re-use this, please contact me. I am willing to discuss re-use on an ad hoc basis. Perhaps the one page you want to use is actually ready for re-use. Ask. I'll probably work out a way to say "yes."

I need to clean up this section. But for now, I'll note that I've made use of the Hebrew/Aramaic text of the Bavli at Mechon Mamre; Jastrow's dictionary; "The Practical Talmud Dictionary" by Yitzchak Frank. I've also used the big three translations of the Talmud --- Soncino (English), Artscroll (English), and Steinsaltz (Hebrew) --- and the Kehati (English) edition of the Mishna, to help me understand passages before translating them.

Come and hear: the master of the house ??? claims ??? and "??? has sworn witnesses if before it was even the case that ??? witnesses ??? must make restitution the principal amount plus a fifth and a guilt-offering if ??? witnesses ??? must make restitution restitutions for ??? and a guilt-offering Here in this case, also, ??? Ravina said to Rav Ashi: Come and hear: is stricter from it ??? on ??? and on ??? a guilt-offering By means of money ??? from this general principle it would follow That there are witnesses and he said on ??? a guilt-offering By means of money ??? That there are witnesses And we have learned shall you say ??? that is not ??? he that is not ??? but: sacrifice ??? This decisively refutes the position of Rabbah, and he is refuted! Watch out for leading vav And Rabbi Yochanan said: ??? in which there is upon it witnesses he is liable with a contract is exempt Rav Pappa said: What is his reason of Rabbi Yochanan witnesses ??? a legal document this one he would place He said to him: Rav Huna the son of of Rav Joshua for Rav, ??? also does he act? ??? except Rav Huna said the son of of Rav Joshua we were his reason of Rabbi Yochanan It is because of this: ??? a legal document ??? Rabbi Yochanan ??? in which there is upon it witnesses he is liable a legal document is exempt And it is like Rav ??? the son of of Rav Joshua ??? He said to him Rabbi ??? to R' ??? Let us say, Rabbi Yochanan and Rabbi Eliezer ??? of Rabbi Eliezer And the rabbbis ??? For it was taught in a baraita ??? field from his fellow ??? river he is liable ??? to him field these are the words of Rabbi Eliezer but the sages say says to him Behold! ??? before you say about what do they disagree? Rabbi Eliezer he expounds. ??? And the rabbbis ??? Rabbi Eliezer he expounds. ??? (Lev. 5) ??? or ??? a hand ??? or from all who shall vow ??? had a vision The entirety What then does it mean when it says ??? In all things And what does it mean when it says ??? documents And the rabbbis ??? A general principle: ??? or ??? a hand or ??? creates an exclusion or from all who shall vow upon it and A general principle: had a vision A general principle: and creates an exclusion and A general principle: If it was you ??? except similar to ??? Just as ??? a thing ??? money or property Even any thing ??? money or property they have fulfilled the mitzvah ??? that do not ??? they have fulfilled the mitzvah slaves ??? they have fulfilled the mitzvah documents ??? by the mouth of ??? yes. ??? money or property one ??? like Rabbi Eliezer and one ??? He said to him: No. one ??? like Rabbi Eliezer and one ??? He could say to you In this case, even Rabbi Eliezer give thanks ??? he said from all and not The entirety Rav Pappa said: in the name of Raba Our mishna also ??? where he teaches ??? ??? and he says No. ??? I and he said "Amen" he is liable And even ??? my slave No. The tanna teaches: What is the reason מאי טעמא Is this not It is because of this: ??? And there is no meaning to the word bring in sacrifice on ??? Rav said ??? in the name of Raba I would say at the end of the teaching, This is the general rule: all ??? by the mouth of himself he is liable but when it is not must make restitution by the mouth of himself is exempt This is the general rule: it uses these particular words to include what? Is this not to include ??? my slave
