PREVIEW OF THE DAFCAST WEBSITE FOR CYCLE 13

Please do not forward this link around yet! This is still in development and will be "released", God willing, on August 1, in time for the thirteenth cycle of Daf Yomi.

This is an early draft. I haven't proofread; there are plenty of typos and probably some more significant errors as well.
Most pages on this site are currently auto-translated. The autotranslations are intended as a starting point for my manual translations. At best, they are awkward stringing-togethers of words and phrases in the corpus database that can benefit from cleaning up. At worst, they are picking the wrong homograph. Auto-translations are indicated by italics.
I am not a rabbi or an expert. These are my translations, and in some cases I am certainly misunderstanding things.
The Talmud is a document of its time. While the Talmud is a foundational document of Judaism, it must be read in its historical context. There are passages that are xenophobic, sexist, and irreconcilable with modern science. Not everything in these pages represents contemporary Judaism.

Copyright

This translation is protected by copyright. I'm putting a lot of effort into this project. Please respect that by only copying with my permission.
I intend to provide free licenses for most uses. I plan to use a Creative Commons CC-NC-BY-SA license, which will allow you to re-use my translations as long as you don't charge money for them (NC), as long as you give me credit (BY), and as long as you make your derived work available under the same terms (SA). But I'm not ready to do that yet because this is still a very rough work-in-progress.
In the meantime, if you want to re-use this, please contact me. I am willing to discuss re-use on an ad hoc basis. Perhaps the one page you want to use is actually ready for re-use. Ask. I'll probably work out a way to say "yes."

I need to clean up this section. But for now, I'll note that I've made use of the Hebrew/Aramaic text of the Bavli at Mechon Mamre; Jastrow's dictionary; "The Practical Talmud Dictionary" by Yitzchak Frank. I've also used the big three translations of the Talmud --- Soncino (English), Artscroll (English), and Steinsaltz (Hebrew) --- and the Kehati (English) edition of the Mishna, to help me understand passages before translating them.

And so from here you teach Does it not clearly ??? say (Lev. 6) in a place who ??? The elevation-offering ??? this one For what reason he has fulfilled his obligation to establish to him a place ??? No. it was slaughtered with the intent of consuming it in the north is invalid, You say ??? he has fulfilled his obligation Or perhaps, except for this required north And there is no meaning to the word after required north Therefore, scripture states: ??? ??? in a place The elevation-offering this he built ??? for all sin-offerings ??? north ??? a male goat ??? between ??? between ??? the remainder of sin-offerings also ??? What is our source for this claim As it is written ??? and then it is written ??? except that specific why do I have should bring himself to account for that which was taught that specific in the north And there is no meaning to the word a male goat ??? in the north and it was taught: (Lev. 4) ??? on the tip of ??? a male goat ??? these are the words of R' Yehudah R' Shimon says ??? male goats of by some texts star-worship in other texts idolatry ??? I thought to say Because ??? also ??? Come and hear from this He disagreed with this Ravina This is satistfactory according to R' Yehudah ??? What is there to say? He said to him Mar Zutra the son of of Rav Tuvi ??? and according to R' Yehudah who it's settled. for what ??? And what does it mean when it says that is not ??? No. ??? And if you say If it was No. ??? he read then I might incorrectly say: ??? If so, ??? except ??? No. ??? So, here, ??? No. we complete it So rather, that specific in the north And there is no meaning to the word ??? in the north ??? from that of Rabbi ??? as it is taught: R' ??? says (Lev. 1) ??? that specific on ??? the altar of the north Just as Therefore, scripture states: on account of ??? in the north and he accepts in the north and if he stood ??? in the north is invalid, It is possible Even this thus Scripture states: that specific that specific in the north And there is no meaning to the word ??? in the north except that specific in the north And there is no meaning to the word son of "uf" in the north as it is taught: It is possible ??? son of "uf" required north It would be a logical inference for just as son of ??? that did not have fixed to him a priest fixed to him north son of "uf" ??? to him a priest is it not logical ??? to him north Scripture states: that specific Just as ??? which provides fixed to him implements of except that specific in the north And there is no meaning to the word Passover in the north as it is taught: R' Eliezer son of Ya'akov says It is possible ??? Passover required north It would be a logical inference for just as an elevation-offering which provides No. fixed to him time ??? fixed to him north Passover ??? to him time ??? is it not logical ??? to him north Scripture states: that specific Just as ??? which provides ??? Just as ??? which provides ??? on ??? Just as ??? which provides The holiest of holy offerings ??? also which provides The holiest of holy offerings In reality lit: In the world ??? from the beginning that specific in the north And there is no meaning to the word ??? in the north ??? to you from that of Rabbi ??? to us Is this not ??? in the north except yes. ??? in the north but: he accepts in the north he accepts ??? No. ??? for him ??? the case is that of an elevation-offering, ??? also ??? From where do we derive this? Rav Adda bar Ahava said (and there are those who say Rabbah son of ??? is a kal vachomer for just as A sin-offering ??? an elevation-offering is essential an elevation-offering ??? A sin-offering ??? is it not logical ??? Just as ??? which provides ??? on ??? Ravina said this one has a problem according to Rav Adda bar Ahavah, anything ??? the subsidiary part a donkey from the essence He said to him: Mar Zutra the son of of Rav ??? and not
