PREVIEW OF THE DAFCAST WEBSITE FOR CYCLE 13

Please do not forward this link around yet! This is still in development and will be "released", God willing, on August 1, in time for the thirteenth cycle of Daf Yomi.

Disclaimers

This is an early draft. I haven't proofread; there are plenty of typos and probably some more significant errors as well.
Most pages on this site are currently auto-translated. The autotranslations are intended as a starting point for my manual translations. At best, they are awkward stringing-togethers of words and phrases in the corpus database that can benefit from cleaning up. At worst, they are picking the wrong homograph. Auto-translations are indicated by italics.
I am not a rabbi or an expert. These are my translations, and in some cases I am certainly misunderstanding things.
The Talmud is a document of its time. While the Talmud is a foundational document of Judaism, it must be read in its historical context. There are passages that are xenophobic, sexist, and irreconcilable with modern science. Not everything in these pages represents contemporary Judaism.

Copyright

This translation is protected by copyright. I'm putting a lot of effort into this project. Please respect that by only copying with my permission.
I intend to provide free licenses for most uses. I plan to use a Creative Commons CC-NC-BY-SA license, which will allow you to re-use my translations as long as you don't charge money for them (NC), as long as you give me credit (BY), and as long as you make your derived work available under the same terms (SA). But I'm not ready to do that yet because this is still a very rough work-in-progress.
In the meantime, if you want to re-use this, please contact me. I am willing to discuss re-use on an ad hoc basis. Perhaps the one page you want to use is actually ready for re-use. Ask. I'll probably work out a way to say "yes."

I need to clean up this section. But for now, I'll note that I've made use of the Hebrew/Aramaic text of the Bavli at Mechon Mamre; Jastrow's dictionary; "The Practical Talmud Dictionary" by Yitzchak Frank. I've also used the big three translations of the Talmud --- Soncino (English), Artscroll (English), and Steinsaltz (Hebrew) --- and the Kehati (English) edition of the Mishna, to help me understand passages before translating them.

דף כז,א גמרא

??? once it has been done, yes, it is valid post facto, but initially, it is not permitted two ??? initially No. up to how much ??? If you wish, I would say ??? And if you wish, I would say ??? of one ??? Rav said ??? from where do we learn ??? that it from ??? as it is said (Lev. 1) ??? son of the morning ??? Watch out for leading vav And from where do you have it that ??? it is written: (Lev. 14) he sinned the house And if you wish, I would say from here (Ps. 51) ??? and so go ahead and say ??? from this general principle it would follow ??? in the case of Hey, isn't it the case that ??? he and so go ahead and say ??? in the case of blood ??? there is not in this case. and so go ahead and say ??? and it comes until blood ??? And, too, ??? From where do we derive this? except ??? from ??? also ??? and he read for what he came that is not ??? Rav ??? he said Scripture states: (Deut. 12) ??? What is to be heard to support this reading? That this ??? it is written: (Deut. 1) to ??? and do not under and so go ahead and say ??? One suffering from gonorrhea by way of lit., through the hands of ??? in the case of and that one One suffering from gonorrhea upon it. he and so go ahead and say ??? And, too, ??? From where do we derive this? except ??? from ??? also ??? and he read for what he came that is not ??? of the academy of R' Yishmael a Tanna taught: ??? We will suggest an alternate reading of this text: Do not read ??? except ??? and so go ahead and say ??? in the case of blood ??? there is not in this case. and so go ahead and say ??? and it comes until blood ??? And, too, ??? From where do we derive this? except ??? from ??? also ??? and he read for what he came that is not ??? and it was taught ??? to it from here as it is taught: R' Chiyya he said from where do we learn ??? from ??? as it is said (Lev. 1) ??? My son, ??? the priests. ??? that do not Scripture states: ??? and ??? Just as Scripture states: ??? and ??? Is it not the case that the tip of ??? are in the general category all ??? they were For what reason they have fulfilled the mitzvah on account of as it is said (Lev. 1) ??? The elevation-offering ??? yes. for me except ??? are in the general category ??? from where do we learn ??? ??? immediately ??? Therefore, scripture states: (Lev. 1) his head and ??? ??? immediately ??? from this general principle it would follow ??? from ??? and it was taught he opens on top of lit. on the head of ??? and would conclude on its head ??? thus he comes to say i.e., what he really means is: from where do we learn ??? ??? immediately ??? Scripture states: (Lev. 1) ??? and ??? his head ??? why do I have should bring himself to account for that which was taught from where do we learn to the beginning lit., to the head ??? for all ??? Scripture states: his head and ???

דף כז,ב גמרא

??? that came first ??? the Merciful One why do I have should bring himself to account for that which was taught How so? he makes ??? ??? on the house of ??? a way honor of ??? and that one a Tanna taught: ??? to it from here as it is taught: (Lev. 11) this ??? And so ??? Torah ??? livestock ??? and "uf" to a domesticated animal livestock imparts tumah ??? and by being carried "uf" he does not become tamei ??? and by being carried "uf" renders clothing tamei when worn by one who swallows the meat of such an invalid sacrifice livestock It is not imparts tumah garments when worn by one who swallows the meat of such an invalid sacrifice ??? Torah ??? livestock ??? and "uf" to a domesticated animal to say to you Just as livestock ??? Even "uf" ??? If it was Just as there ??? two Even here, ??? two Scripture states: this R' Eliezer says: ??? Torah ??? livestock ??? and "uf" to a domesticated animal to say to you Just as "uf" ??? from ??? Even livestock ??? from ??? If it was Just as there ??? Even here, ??? Scripture states: (Lev. 5) ??? his head ??? and not ??? his head of this ??? And there is no meaning to the word his head of after ??? and R' Eliezer This this What then does it mean when it says does he act? for him If it was Is this not this then I might incorrectly say: Just as "uf" ??? one Even livestock ??? one Therefore, to avoid this incorrect deduction, the Merciful One wrote: this It was taught by bar-Kappara this ??? the scripture ??? between livestock ??? with two signs it would be impossible immediately ??? without anything it would be impossible immediately ??? to a domesticated animal How so? ??? one fish ??? My son, ??? From where do we derive this? Shall I say It is because of this: As it is written (Num. 11) ??? and mornings ??? to them if all ??? the sea ??? to them ??? in reality ??? them Except I can object with text from here: regarding ??? As it is written (Num. 11) ??? ??? Here, too, ??? Hey, isn't it the case that is what you say? Do you really mean that? ??? anything it would be impossible immediately ??? to a domesticated animal there i.e., in another mishna No. ??? in a place ??? Here in this case, ??? in a place ??? transgresses ??? livestock ??? from ??? with two ??? fish ??? from ??? anything "uf" ??? from ??? one Rav said Shmuel ??? Know ye that the following proof is conclusively true: for behold! ??? there is regarding them ??? And furthermore, They asked It is written one says (Gen. 1) and God said ??? raw lit., living and "uf" ??? Perhaps, ??? and then it is written (Gen. 2) ??? Hashem God from the land" all ??? the field and all "uf" the heavens Perhaps, ??? He said to him: from ??? were created he saw ??? this to that He said to them: Difficult is ??? ??? seek from ??? were created and for what reason ??? to a person to read to them in that place and there are those who say ??? after he said to that very ??? He said to them: ??? It is because of this: As it is written on ??? Rav Yehudah said It is because of this: R' Isaac son of ??? yes. ??? from the Torah as it is said and he poured it ??? in reality ??? raw lit., living also ??? "uf" also ??? to a domesticated animal As it is written this ??? this one it is written (Lev. 17) and he poured it ??? And what does it mean when it says ??? for him on "uf" ??? It is because of this: ??? of him ??? blood ??? They challenged him from this teaching: ??? in his hand ??? is exempt ??? And if you say yes. ??? from the Torah ??? This is ??? that ??? should request Who deduces ??? No. ??? Come and hear: ??? and it is necessary ??? he is liable ??? How so? he makes or ??? or ???
