PREVIEW OF THE DAFCAST WEBSITE FOR CYCLE 13

Please do not forward this link around yet! This is still in development and will be "released", God willing, on August 1, in time for the thirteenth cycle of Daf Yomi.

This is an early draft. I haven't proofread; there are plenty of typos and probably some more significant errors as well.
Most pages on this site are currently auto-translated. The autotranslations are intended as a starting point for my manual translations. At best, they are awkward stringing-togethers of words and phrases in the corpus database that can benefit from cleaning up. At worst, they are picking the wrong homograph. Auto-translations are indicated by italics.
I am not a rabbi or an expert. These are my translations, and in some cases I am certainly misunderstanding things.
The Talmud is a document of its time. While the Talmud is a foundational document of Judaism, it must be read in its historical context. There are passages that are xenophobic, sexist, and irreconcilable with modern science. Not everything in these pages represents contemporary Judaism.

Copyright

This translation is protected by copyright. I'm putting a lot of effort into this project. Please respect that by only copying with my permission.
I intend to provide free licenses for most uses. I plan to use a Creative Commons CC-NC-BY-SA license, which will allow you to re-use my translations as long as you don't charge money for them (NC), as long as you give me credit (BY), and as long as you make your derived work available under the same terms (SA). But I'm not ready to do that yet because this is still a very rough work-in-progress.
In the meantime, if you want to re-use this, please contact me. I am willing to discuss re-use on an ad hoc basis. Perhaps the one page you want to use is actually ready for re-use. Ask. I'll probably work out a way to say "yes."

I need to clean up this section. But for now, I'll note that I've made use of the Hebrew/Aramaic text of the Bavli at Mechon Mamre; Jastrow's dictionary; "The Practical Talmud Dictionary" by Yitzchak Frank. I've also used the big three translations of the Talmud --- Soncino (English), Artscroll (English), and Steinsaltz (Hebrew) --- and the Kehati (English) edition of the Mishna, to help me understand passages before translating them.

No. ??? to you ??? transgresses of its mother he Here in this case, also, ??? transgresses of its mother he he is required ??? transgresses ??? between a sign of ??? What then? who ??? What then? ??? How so? Shall I say ??? that is elevated i.e., important why does he the Tanna seize on the particular case of This that there is in it: prohibits he would exit even son of ??? of the world also for he said: Rav ??? according to the words of One who says ??? son of ??? that comes on livestock that is elevated i.e., important ??? he (the possibility of repair if done improperly) does not have it is not necessary to teach this ??? the stone ??? What then does it mean when it says ??? for him Sarai or, perhaps, ??? he returns he said This is obvious! ??? for if so, ??? except This is obvious! ??? So, too, here, ??? to us livestock in reality Is this not ??? milk ??? Here in this case, also, there is no difference or, perhaps, two ??? say three we do not say and for one If it was to Rabbi Meir prohibits milk ??? that it is possible prohibits he would exit there is not in this case. If it was to Rabbi Yehudah prohibits he would exit that it is possible prohibits milk ??? there is not in this case. For it was taught in a baraita ??? accustomed ??? is forbidden these are the words of Rabbi Meir Rabbi Yehudah says yes. accustomed ??? is permitted. except all ??? we do not say who permits So, too, here, ??? to us What then? ??? ??? milk of the world No. ??? from ??? he is equivalent. Sarai This also They did not teach this לא שנו or, perhaps, there i.e., in another mishna it has ??? Here in this case, he does not have ??? From where do we derive this? As it is written (Deut. 14) and all livestock ??? a parsa etc. livestock ??? ??? Except I can object with text from here: ??? in it Why is it that We have learnt in a Mishna: yes. ??? No. ??? and not ??? and not ??? and not complete of them except Scripture states: (Deut. 14) and all livestock ??? ??? If so, even ??? from ??? and from ??? also Why is it that We have learnt in a Mishna: ??? from who transgress ??? is permitted. in cases regarding eating from ??? and from ??? is forbidden in cases regarding eating Scripture states: it Solomon and not ??? דף סט,ב גמרא

??? there is not in this case. Except I can object with text from here: ??? a cow ??? this one a Tanna taught: of the academy of R' Yishmael like Rabbi Shimon son of ??? (Deut. 14) a parsa ??? Rav ??? son of ??? he said In reality lit: In the world ??? from the beginning and that he came it is a problem to you yes. ??? So, with whom does it agree? Rabbi Shimon She ??? substitute offerings? ??? Just as tithe is not customary ??? and crossed over Even substitute offerings? It is not ??? and crossed over ??? For it was taught in a baraita he said Rabbi Yosei Is it not the case that ??? One who says ??? of -- this refers to an elevation-offering All of it an elevation-offering Even ??? a foot of -- this refers to under -- this refers to shall be All of it substitute offerings? underneath it for one ??? he turned for him Shall I say to Rabbi Meir And Rabbi Yehudah who there is for them This reason out the logic. For it was taught: It is possible One who says ??? of -- this refers to an elevation-offering shall be All of it an elevation-offering Therefore, scripture states: (Lev. 27) all who He shall give" from him to Hashem it shall be and that which was sanctified for Temple use from him and that which was sanctified for Temple use and not all of it and that which was sanctified for Temple use It is possible ??? Therefore, scripture states: it shall be ??? shall be How so? it shall be sold. ??? Those who are ill except ??? these are the words of Rabbi Meir And Rabbi Yehudah Rabbi Yosei and Rabbi Shimon say from where do we learn ??? of -- this refers to an elevation-offering shall be All of it an elevation-offering Therefore, scripture states: it shall be ??? All of it for one If it was to Rabbi Meir And Rabbi Yehudah who there is for them This reason out the logic. except Is this not to Rabbi Shimon No. Rabbi Yosei The reason is ??? he comes to say i.e., what he really means is:

דף סט,ב משנה

??? for dogs he has fulfilled his obligation the majority of his body Behold! this ??? from ???

דף סט,ב גמרא

was it said; he has fulfilled his obligation ??? some texts say: to a worshipper of stars ??? and he returned and went out ??? after Rav Huna he said ??? Rava said: he does not ??? Rav Huna he said ??? his reasoning is at the end of eating, before they leave ??? And because of the fact ??? for him ??? the validity at the end of eating, before they leave originally it was. ??? And what does it mean when it says ??? No. anything ??? Rava said: he does not ??? his reasoning is from here ??? And what does it mean when it says ??? then the ruling is acceptable. ??? he has fulfilled his obligation ??? a way the wall and a second person the third a way the womb Rav Huna he said he does not ??? Rava said: ??? Rav Huna he said he does not ??? Rav Huna with his reasoning for he said: at the end of eating, before they leave ??? that came first ??? Rava said: ??? Rabbah with his reasoning for he said: from here ??? a way the womb he departs And it was necessary to have both statements For if it was we had heard In this case, In this case, he comes to say i.e., what he really means is: Rav Huna It is because of this: ??? but: ??? I would say he would acknowledge the correct position of for him ???
