PREVIEW OF THE DAFCAST WEBSITE FOR CYCLE 13

Please do not forward this link around yet! This is still in development and will be "released", God willing, on August 1, in time for the thirteenth cycle of Daf Yomi.

This is an early draft. I haven't proofread; there are plenty of typos and probably some more significant errors as well.
Most pages on this site are currently auto-translated. The autotranslations are intended as a starting point for my manual translations. At best, they are awkward stringing-togethers of words and phrases in the corpus database that can benefit from cleaning up. At worst, they are picking the wrong homograph. Auto-translations are indicated by italics.
I am not a rabbi or an expert. These are my translations, and in some cases I am certainly misunderstanding things.
The Talmud is a document of its time. While the Talmud is a foundational document of Judaism, it must be read in its historical context. There are passages that are xenophobic, sexist, and irreconcilable with modern science. Not everything in these pages represents contemporary Judaism.

Copyright

This translation is protected by copyright. I'm putting a lot of effort into this project. Please respect that by only copying with my permission.
I intend to provide free licenses for most uses. I plan to use a Creative Commons CC-NC-BY-SA license, which will allow you to re-use my translations as long as you don't charge money for them (NC), as long as you give me credit (BY), and as long as you make your derived work available under the same terms (SA). But I'm not ready to do that yet because this is still a very rough work-in-progress.
In the meantime, if you want to re-use this, please contact me. I am willing to discuss re-use on an ad hoc basis. Perhaps the one page you want to use is actually ready for re-use. Ask. I'll probably work out a way to say "yes."

I need to clean up this section. But for now, I'll note that I've made use of the Hebrew/Aramaic text of the Bavli at Mechon Mamre; Jastrow's dictionary; "The Practical Talmud Dictionary" by Yitzchak Frank. I've also used the big three translations of the Talmud --- Soncino (English), Artscroll (English), and Steinsaltz (Hebrew) --- and the Kehati (English) edition of the Mishna, to help me understand passages before translating them.

If so, meat ??? why does he the Tanna seize on the particular case of ??? to it ??? Watch out for leading vav Is it not enough for me ??? that you It is possible ??? to others he as it is taught: Rabbi Shimon son of Yehudah says It is because of this: R' Shimon meat ??? is forbidden in cases regarding eating and it is permitted to benefit from it as it is said (Deut. 14) For with ??? you to Hashem ??? and elsewhere in the scripture he says (Ex. 22) and the men of ??? for me Just as there is forbidden in cases regarding eating and it is permitted to benefit from it Even here, is forbidden in cases regarding eating and it is permitted to benefit from it one And furthermore, he comes to say i.e., what he really means is: one ??? that you It is possible ??? to others he And furthermore, for him also Behold! it was to him ??? and if ??? Sarai Rabbi Shimon Let the Tanna teach: give thanks Rabbi Shimon ??? a donkey meat ??? they eat If it was ??? upon it Here, too, Here in this case, with what are we dealing? that is not He accounts for upon it and the reason What then does it mean when it says ??? rabbis ??? rabbis in front of Rav ??? Because ??? and According to the sages, Watch out for leading vav And who said it? Because ??? Hey, isn't it the case that We have learnt in a Mishna: three ten items And they said ??? "uf" tahor -- this refers to One from them it requires ??? It is not it requires ??? and if ??? why do I have ??? So, with whom does it agree? Rabbi Shimon She Come and hear: ??? livestock that is tamei in any place ??? "uf" tahor ??? are necessary ??? are necessary ??? And if you say ??? why do I have ??? So, with whom does it agree? Rabbi Shimon She Come and hear: ??? livestock that is tahor in any place ??? "uf" ??? are not they all require ??? and not ??? this one that is tamei ??? And if you say So, with whom does it agree? Rabbi Shimon She this one ??? Rabbi Shimon you shall But the beginning of the teaching, Is this not Rabbi Shimon it is taught at the end Rabbi Shimon says: Even ??? are not they all require No. ??? and not ??? and Rabbi Shimon said: What is the reason? Because and there are of them ??? except Rabba said: everyone agrees lit: according to the whole world we do not say ??? and if ??? Here, too,

דף י,ב גמרא

Here in this case, with what are we dealing? For example, ??? in it ??? and R' Eliezer as it is taught: he said R' Yosi ??? for me ??? of R' Yehoshua ??? ??? in it ??? considers it proper R' Eliezer says: blood ??? In reality lit: In the world considers it proper Rabbi Eliezer we were a Tanna taught: that came first except Is this not ??? There is this difference between them: a Tanna taught: that came first reasoned ??? considers it proper ??? but: ??? he is required ??? and he came Rabbi Eliezer to say blood ??? In reality lit: In the world considers it proper And even if ??? also it does not require ??? From where can you derive perhaps, The reason is of Rabbi Eliezer there i.e., in another mishna ??? Because and there are in it ??? From where do we derive this? ??? the validity She where he teaches He ascended ??? Thus said Rabbi Shimon What is the reason? Because and there are in it ??? And if you say If it was It is because of this: ??? why does he the Tanna seize on the particular case of ??? Even if ??? also yes. Here, too, but on account of ??? No. running ??? is forbidden to benefit from it these are the words of Rabbi Yehudah. and Rabbi Shimon permits I would say ??? is forbidden to benefit from it and Rabbi Shimon permits Hey, isn't it the case that ??? you shall But the beginning of the teaching, Is this not ??? it is taught at the end No. ??? No. of one who bought and not ??? and not ??? and not ??? and not ??? before him on account of ??? is forbidden ??? and the blessing of the Service these are the words of Rabbi Yehudah. and Rabbi Shimon permits But the beginning of the teaching, and at the end of the teaching, ??? But the beginning of the teaching, ??? at the end of the teaching, ??? And it was necessary to have both statements For if it was a Tanna taught: ??? Sarai Rabbi Shimon but: ??? I would say give thanks for him to Rabbi Yehudah and if a Tanna taught: ??? Rabbi Yehudah but: ??? I would say give thanks to Rabbi Shimon Watch out for leading vav And it was necessary to have both statements and thus Rav Nachman said Rabbah said son of Avuah give thanks Rabbi Shimon after ??? that he was is forbidden And Rav Nachman says ??? I thought to say to it as it is taught: (Ex. 13) ??? it is said here, ??? and it is said there ??? Just as there is forbidden Even here, is forbidden with whom does it agree? Shall I say Rabbi Yehudah ??? is forbidden except Is this not Rabbi Shimon She He said to him Rav Sheishet ??? In reality lit: In the world Rabbi Yehudah and It is necessary to teach this You might have thought that I would say that ??? in a place ??? is standing Just as ??? is permitted Even ??? is permitted Come and learn from this. Rav Nachman said ??? I thought to say to it ??? Levi he ??? of a priest For this reason ??? with whom does it agree? Shall I say Rabbi Yehudah this one ??? and he arises except Is this not Rabbi Shimon She If you wish, I would say Rabbi Yehudah And if you wish, I would say Rabbi Shimon If you wish, I would say Rabbi Yehudah ??? between And if you wish, I would say Rabbi Shimon ??? death and thus Raysh Lakish said give thanks Rabbi Shimon after ??? that he was is forbidden and Rabbi Yochanan and if you say Rabbi Eliezer he said ??? She It is a disagreement there is someone who teaches this as referring about this teaching of Rav ??? to this other teaching ??? a donkey It is not ??? Let us say, ??? that is not like Rabbi Shimon Rav Nachman said Rabbah said son of Avuah after ??? and the words of all are that it is possible that they said So, with whom does it agree? No. Rabbi Yehudah and not Rabbi Shimon If it was Rabbi Shimon ??? If it was Rabbi Yehudah ??? between Rabbah said son of Avuah Rav said In reality lit: In the world Rabbi Yehudah For example, that is not the value of except ??? derive it like Rabbi Yosi son of Yehudah as it is taught: (Ex. 13) ??? immediately ??? Any thing that was Rabbi Yosei son of Yehudah says yes. ??? Mar said: ??? immediately ??? Any thing that was This is obvious! It is necessary to teach this For it might have entered your mind that I would say: Because ??? a person Just as first-born a person after thirty ??? This also after thirty ??? Come and learn from this. ??? immediately ??? Any thing that was Rabbi Yosei son of Yehudah says yes. ??? your soul If it was There is an analogy between ??? a person ??? that and if should request No. There is an analogy between ??? for him In reality lit: In the world No. There is an analogy between Rabba said: Scripture states: (Lev. 27) and all ??? it shall be ??? that which was sanctified for Temple use all ??? that you ??? No. ??? And the rabbbis This certain individual
