PREVIEW OF THE DAFCAST WEBSITE FOR CYCLE 13

Please do not forward this link around yet! This is still in development and will be "released", God willing, on August 1, in time for the thirteenth cycle of Daf Yomi.

This is an early draft. I haven't proofread; there are plenty of typos and probably some more significant errors as well.
Most pages on this site are currently auto-translated. The autotranslations are intended as a starting point for my manual translations. At best, they are awkward stringing-togethers of words and phrases in the corpus database that can benefit from cleaning up. At worst, they are picking the wrong homograph. Auto-translations are indicated by italics.
I am not a rabbi or an expert. These are my translations, and in some cases I am certainly misunderstanding things.
The Talmud is a document of its time. While the Talmud is a foundational document of Judaism, it must be read in its historical context. There are passages that are xenophobic, sexist, and irreconcilable with modern science. Not everything in these pages represents contemporary Judaism.

Copyright

This translation is protected by copyright. I'm putting a lot of effort into this project. Please respect that by only copying with my permission.
I intend to provide free licenses for most uses. I plan to use a Creative Commons CC-NC-BY-SA license, which will allow you to re-use my translations as long as you don't charge money for them (NC), as long as you give me credit (BY), and as long as you make your derived work available under the same terms (SA). But I'm not ready to do that yet because this is still a very rough work-in-progress.
In the meantime, if you want to re-use this, please contact me. I am willing to discuss re-use on an ad hoc basis. Perhaps the one page you want to use is actually ready for re-use. Ask. I'll probably work out a way to say "yes."

I need to clean up this section. But for now, I'll note that I've made use of the Hebrew/Aramaic text of the Bavli at Mechon Mamre; Jastrow's dictionary; "The Practical Talmud Dictionary" by Yitzchak Frank. I've also used the big three translations of the Talmud --- Soncino (English), Artscroll (English), and Steinsaltz (Hebrew) --- and the Kehati (English) edition of the Mishna, to help me understand passages before translating them.

דף נג,א משנה

tithe livestock accustomed in the land." and "in outside the land" i.e., outside the land of Israel before the house or in the case that one is not before the house ??? but not ??? accustomed in the morning ??? And there is no meaning to the word ??? from this on this ??? from this on this ??? and are not ??? from this on this that he was In justice, for just as if ??? and one who sleeps those that are not ??? this to that ??? from this on this ??? that are ??? this to that is it not logical that it shall not be ??? from this on this Scripture states: (Lev. 27) ??? all ??? one

דף נג,א גמרא

Let us say, ??? that is not like Rabbi ??? as it is taught: Rabbi Akiva says: It is possible he shall ascend a person tithe livestock ??? Scripture states: (Deut. 12) ??? her name ??? and ??? is what the scripture says. one tithe livestock and one tithe grain ??? that you ??? tithe grain you ??? tithe livestock ??? you ??? tithe grain If it was you ??? tithe livestock Even if you say R' ??? here, ??? here, ??? also that he came He used the wording to it ??? her name Learn from this If so, based on this lit: from after, that is not was sacrificed why is it that ??? before the house or in the case that one is not before ??? If so, Even if ??? also Watch out for leading vav And it is like Rav ??? For Rav Huna said: ??? It is because of this: ??? If so, from the beginning also No. except ??? Here in this case, also, ??? except Rabbah said It is because of this: ??? yes. ??? And there is no meaning to the word ??? And there is no meaning to the word ??? in these times (nowadays) and if ??? livestock ??? fruits ??? and vessels ??? coins and implements of ??? he shall carry to the Sea of Salt and Who is ??? in front of it but it ??? If so, first-born also No. ??? first-born in ours hangs the validity ??? thus he comes to say i.e., what he really means is: ??? some texts read: to the worshippers of the stars ??? that is not ??? from the beginning

דף נג,ב גמרא

??? Watch out for leading vav And it is like Rav Yehudah for he said: Rav Yehudah is permitted. to a person ??? before that went out ??? the world. Here in this case, also, ??? of him. ??? from the beginning who know Which he departs And if you say ??? for him ??? ten (Lev. 27) No. ??? between good ??? the Merciful One in the Torah says And if you say ??? of him. ??? rapidly" ??? the house of ??? and in the case of livestock ??? there is not in this case. So, here, ??? livestock rapidly" ??? the house of ??? and in the case of livestock ??? there is not in this case. ??? Here in this case, also, ??? immediately ??? my field of him. ??? for even in the case where ??? also ??? No. ??? but not ??? This is obvious! Is this not that are his ??? in the case of simple-holiness offerings. and who follow the reasoning ??? of R' Yosi the Gallilean for he said: simple offerings money or property ??? are these as it is taught: (Lev. 5) ??? from by in Hashem. ??? simple offerings that are money or property ??? these are the words of Rabbi Yosei the Gallilean For it might have entered your mind that I would say: ??? Come and learn from this. and so go ahead and say Here, too, (Lev. 27) it shall be and that which was sanctified for Temple use the Merciful One in the Torah says and not immediately ??? The reason is ??? the Merciful One it shall be and that which was sanctified for Temple use this one Is this not thus then I might incorrectly say: ??? the sanctity of tithe ??? now "Kedushah" is stricter ??? lightweight No. ??? "Kedushah" lightweight ??? lightweight ??? Who is it For it was taught in a baraita one my sanctity An altar of and one my sanctity ??? the house yes. ??? to "Kedushah", but: ??? that specific that which was sanctified for Temple use ??? that specific What would you have said? there i.e., in another mishna ??? livestock Is this not ??? But here, in this case, ??? livestock ??? even though ??? No. ??? for what practical distinction (Lev. 27) without ??? and without ??? accustomed in the morning ??? And there is no meaning to the word ??? from this on this ??? new sleeping ??? from this on this From a "kal vachomer", for just as ??? this to that ??? from this on this new sleeping those that are not ??? this to that is it not logical ??? from this on this Therefore, scripture states: (Deut. 14) ten ??? is what the scripture says. one tithe livestock and one tithe grain and There is an analogy between tithe livestock ??? grain Just as tithe grain ??? on one who sleeps No. Even tithe livestock ??? on one who sleeps No. If so, ??? also Let us say, There is an analogy between tithe livestock ??? grain Just as tithe grain ??? on that is not ??? No. Even tithe livestock ??? on that is not ??? No. Rabbi the Merciful One ??? If so, new sleeping also this one it is written (Deut. 14) ten ??? for just as you see Rabba said: Scripture states: (Deut. 14) year" year" ??? and not to a different matter It was taught there: yes. ??? on that is not ??? and if he separated terumah yes. its terumah terumah From where do we derive this? Rabbi Ami said he said Rabbi ??? And there are those who say it was Rav Ami said Rabbi Shimon ben Lakish Resh Lakish said: (in Numbers 18) all milk ??? and all milk ??? he said Torah give milk to this and milk to this
